What Goes Into a Beautiful Wedding Invitation Suite: A Simple Guide

Planning a wedding involves a lot of decisions, and if you're staring at stationery lingo wondering what on earth a “belly band” is and whether you actually need it… you're not alone.

As a stationer who’s helped design wedding paper for everything from intimate backyard ceremonies to full-out destination soirées, I’m here to break it down simply (no overwhelm, I promise!)

Letterpress Suite for a Destination Wedding

First: What is a Wedding Invitation Suite?

It’s not just the invitation card itself. It’s the whole package your guests receive in the mail, kind of like a welcome letter to your wedding, wrapped in gorgeous paper and a lot of excitement.

The Essentials

Invitation card
This is the star of the show. It includes your names, date, time, and venue info.

Pro tip: You don’t need to cram every little detail here, just the core info.

RSVP card or digital RSVP info
You need a way to know who’s coming (and who’s politely declining). Printed RSVP cards are classic and charming, but digital RSVPs work perfectly too, bonus points if you want to save some trees.

Pro tip: If you're having a formal wedding, printed RSVPs feel more traditional. If you're more casual or eco-conscious, a digital RSVP might work great.

The Nice-to-Haves

Details card
This is where you share the extras your guests might ask about, hotel info, dress code, parking, or your wedding website. Guests love this because it saves them from texting you five times.

Outer and inner envelopes
Optional, but can add formality and help organize everything (especially if you're doing handwritten calligraphy addressing that you want to protect during the mailing process).

Envelope liners
These are the hidden gems that wow when someone opens your envelope. Optional, but so beautiful. Think florals, custom monograms, and venue illustrations. A nice moment of surprise.

Extras That Bring It All Together

At Saluna Creative, these details aren’t just add-ons; they’re part of what makes your suite feel special and personalized.

Vellum wraps, belly bands, or ribbons
These hold everything together in a neat little bundle, and add a tactile layer that says, “Yes, we thought about every detail.”

Wax seals or custom stamps
Adds elegance and old-world charm. Or go modern with a minimal, graphic wax seal that ties in your color palette.

Maps, itineraries, or welcome notes
These are perfect if you’re planning a destination wedding or a multi-day celebration. They keep everyone on the same page (literally).
